Frequently asked questions

Straight answers to the questions people ask before they book.

Licensed immigration consultants are listed on the public register of the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants. Search the name there before you sign anything or pay a fee.

We go over your goals and situation, explain the options that may apply, and outline the next steps and the documents you would need.

Timelines are set by the government and change often. We explain the current published ranges for your route, but we cannot promise a specific timeline.

No, and we will say so at the start.

No consultant can promise an outcome. Final decisions on applications are made by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

Some clients also need help with services from other governments, such as Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) applications. Ask us at your consultation. These are separate from Canadian immigration consulting and are not covered by an immigration licence.

Yes. Consultations can be held by phone or video, and documents can be shared online.

You can apply yourself, and many people do. A consultant is useful when your situation has several moving parts, when deadlines matter, or when you want someone to check the application before it goes in. We will tell you honestly if your case looks simple enough to handle on your own.

We explain our fees in writing before you commit to anything, so you know what is included and what is not. Government fees are separate from our fees, and your fee summary shows both. Ask for the written fee summary at your consultation.

Bring your passport and any current permit or status document, a short summary of your history, and any letters or forms you have already received from the government. If you are missing something, come anyway; we will tell you what to gather.

You remain the applicant and are responsible for the information in it. We prepare the application with you, review it with you line by line and submit it with your approval.

Tell us as soon as it happens. Changes such as a new address, a new job, a marriage or the birth of a child can affect an application, and some must be reported to the government. We will explain what applies to you.

We can review the decision letter with you and explain the options that may exist, such as a new application. Some reviews are heard in the Federal Court, where a consultant cannot represent you; we will tell you if that applies. We cannot promise a different result.

No. Many clients live elsewhere in Alberta, in other provinces or outside Canada. Consultations by phone or video work the same way as meeting in person.

We collect only what is needed for your file, keep it confidential and share it only with your permission or where the law requires it. Ask us at the consultation how documents are stored and transferred.
